  17. PROBLEM:           Bent pins on the EISA connectors.
  18.  
  19. REASON:            The EISA connectors are more delicate than the ISA (AT) 
  20.            connectors because of their design.  We feel that this is a
  21.            problem that will be seen with any EISA motherboard and is 
  22.            not unique to AMI.
  23.  
  24. SOLUTION:          Once the connectors go through a "break-in" period, they 
  25.            become less susceptible to bent pins.  In factory test, we 
  26.            will insert cards into each slot four to five times to 
  27.            "break-in" the connectors.  We are also working with the
  28.                    connector manufacturers to see if something can be done to
  29.            improve the reliability of the connectors.

  31.                    Distributors and System Integrators should be aware of this
  32.            problem and check for bent pins before power is applied to 
  33.            the board.  If the pins of a connector are bent, they may 
  34.            cause a short which could damage components on the board.  
  35.            If bent pins are found the board should be returned to RMA 
  36.            for immediate repair.
